What is Dry Cleaning really?
Dry cleaning differs from clean and press in a sense that dry cleaning is for delicate fabrics requiring solvent-based cleaning, while Clean and Press uses water and is intended for more durable, everyday clothing.
Dry cleaning is a specialized cleaning process designed for fabrics that can't handle traditional washing with water. Instead of using water and detergent, dry cleaning employs chemical solvents to remove dirt and stains. The process begins with pre-treating stains and spots to break them down. Garments are then placed in a machine where a solvent, such as perchloroethylene or a hydrocarbon-based solution, is used to dissolve and lift away oils and grease. The solvent is then circulated to rinse the garment, removing any remaining dirt. After cleaning, the garment is dried in the machine with warm air to evaporate the solvent. Finally, the item is pressed or steamed to remove wrinkles and restore its shape. Dry cleaning is ideal for delicate fabrics and items with intricate designs, providing a gentle and effective cleaning solution.
